Incessant flow of money
At a time when the whole world is fighting through recession – big multinational companies closing down, small companies working very hard to pull themselves up, there is one business which is completely inversely proportional to the financial crisis. It fact, the business of these companies is flourishing than ever before. The business that we are referring to is the online casino sites. To everyone’s surprise, the amount of wealth it has accumulated during the recession period is much higher than its previous years. The traditional casinos of Vegas, Europe, Australia and Southeast Asia all have been hit very badly because of the recession. The revenues of these casinos are on the downslide, but there is no stopping for the online gambling sites.
The online sites initially too were expecting a sharp fall on their revenue as gambling does not fall on the basic requirements of every day life. It is played only for fun and pleasure. It was expected that with the shortage of money there will be hardly any person showing interest towards gambling. To everyone’s surprise, the online casinos are now being flooded with money.
Ever since its inception in the 1990s, online casinos have been a hit business. A survey on 2008 showed that no other industry in the world remained completely unaffected and unperturbed during such a massive economic shock. The yearly growth of this industry is more than 10% which is higher than the traditional casinos as well as sports betting. One of the biggest reasons for this growth can be the increase in the number of pink slips offered to working employees. Majority of the unemployed people become dependent on gambling and online casinos are their first preference. The government should make the fullest use of this opportunity and make online gaming centers legal throughout the country. This would not only increase the revenue of the online casino sites but also of the government.
